Brian Cannell… A Proud Manxman by birth, his Father Holding Senior positions in Government and his Grandfathers, William Cannell ex. IOM Steam Packet General Manager(1940’s), and Reginald Orton Ex. Manager of the Douglas Southern Railway, that ran the length of The Marine Drive to Port Soderick in the early 1900’s. He has worked in the Printing Industry since leaving school (1961). Starting as an apprentice experiencing all that encompassed the trade. He worked through many different eras that witnessed so many changes in Print, while working from ‘shop floor’ worker through Managerial roles and eventual Directorship. In April 2003 family bereavements caused him to reassess his future and decided devote more time for his family and his love of travel. He spent the next 6 months travelling with his wife Mavis on their motorcycle, throughout Europe. Returning in October they set up a small Consultancy, offering advice on print requirement using Brian’s considerable print industry knowledge to enable businesses to maximize savings when ordering their requirements. He found his services to be of great interest to both large and small businesses both on the Island and in UK, and the business quickly established itself. In the early years with the help of his son David he expanded his services to include design and make up of print ready files, however without full control over the full production he found it frustrating at times. In 2008 the business made a major decision to acquire the full capabilities to produce print ‘in

house’. Son David joined the company on a permanent basis and Digital Print and ancillary machines were purchased. The business stablished itself in Shop/Office outlet in Railway Shops, Peel Road, Douglas and for the next six years father and son worked hard to build the client base. In 2014 David took ownership of Cannell Print Limited and has since expanded into newly purchased premises in 44 Buck Road, Douglas. Quite an achievement considering it was done during the dreadful Covid years! The Business has ALWAYS fiercely protected its ability to fulfil its delivery promises. We have often worked from Dawn till Dusk to ensure we do not ‘let people down’. It takes a Very Special occurrence for a
